Club Night Success   29/01/2014

On Friday, January 17th, Uibh Laoire GAA celebrated our annual club night in Creedon's Hotel in Inchigeela and an enjoyable night was had by all.

There was a large attendance present consisting of members, players and locals alike. The priorities of the night were to award each of the Under 21 Mid Cork winning side with their medals and also to present the annual Clubperson, Footballer & Hurler of the Year awards.

The Clubperson of the Year award was duly awarded to club secretary, Cliona O'Riordan. Cliona took to her new role of club secretary like a duck to water and put in an unbelievable amount of work behind the scenes that makes the club tick. Without her, the club would not be where it is.

The Footballer of the Year award went to current Cork Under 21 & Senior Footballer, Cathal Vaughan. Cathal was also presented with an award for his successes with Cork Under 21 & Junior Footballers in 2013, in which he won 2 Munster medals along with a Junior All Ireland in what is a fantastic achievement and an achievment which speaks for itself.

The Hurler of the Year award went to the evergreen and ever-present, Anthony McSweeney. Anthony is well known for his hurling prowess and his years of work in hurling at the club have not gone unnoticed. He performed excellently in a number of defensive roles throughout the year, as well as being a selector for the Junior Hurlers.

There was no doubt among everyone present and everyone who voted that all 3 were deserving of their respective awards.

A special word of thanks to all of whom helped and attended on the night, as well as Creedon's Hotel for hosting such a successful night.
